These wetlands represent a partnership that conducts wetland and engineering research and creates opportunities for research, teaching, and outreach.
Partners from across the University, as well as federal and private entities came together to make the Cherokee Woodlands Wetland Project possible.
The result is a space that fulfills environmental needs by providing habitat requirements for wildlife, filtering and storing water, and providing protection against flooding.
The wetlands also serve as an outdoor laboratory, classroom, and collaborative space for both students and researchers.
